ILS Solicitors were established in 2004 by local solicitor Stephen Gowland.

Based in Durham in the North East of England, ILS provides legal assistance to victims of accidents, including car accidents, other road traffic accidents, accidents at work and slips, trips and falls.

Stephen Gowland is a solicitor and legal executive with over fifteen years experience in dealing with personal injury claims. Stephen is a member of the national council of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), helping run Ilex and represent its 22,000 members nationally. Stephen is also actively involved in the local Newcastle branch.

Stephen began his legal career representing claimants, before spending a number of years defending claims made against local police forces, local authorities and high profile clients such as Pirelli, BNFL and McVities. 

The experience gained by representing both claimants and defendants is of great advantage when dealing with insurance companies, enabling a swifter and more favourable settlement to be achieved.
